Anyone else growing red currants? They’re tart with a subtle sweetness! This was planted from a bare root plant three and a half years ago. It produced a few berries a year after planting, and has been more productive in the last two years. Red currants are hardy to zones 3-8 and thrives in full sun to part shade, but will be more fruitful in full sun.

Red currants are great fresh and can be frozen for later use. Add them to muffins, cakes, cobblers, crumbles or make currant jam or jelly.

Looks very good!! I'm growing several seedlings from red white and salmon currant mamas. They haven't fruited yet so I don't know what color they are but I'm guessing at least one will be red 🤞🏼😁👍🏼💚 yours are doing so well!!
