I normally don’t make posts like this, but I figured sharing my story could help people. Growing up, I didn’t have it the easiest. And I always pretended everything was okay. When I can now say with confidence- it’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to feel sad, it’s okay to have anxiety. It’s more important what you do with those emotions. I fed into the partying, drugs, alcohol and more- to help myself cope. When that doesn’t help because that horrible feeling inside will be there every morning you wake up. I’ve been sober for about two months now, and I made the hard decision to leave western to work on myself. I dealt with a lot of anger and resentment to my parents when honestly they saved my life. Life isn’t easy and expressing that is so important for growth. Everyone has a past, and it’s important how you work on yourself to improve. Don’t dwell on it. No one is perfect and people make mistakes- and it’s not so easy to remember that. Things got bad for me and I was using way to much to where I lost myself. I lost the person my grandmother raised me to be. I hurt people and lied, and i can now recognize that. God helped me and was there when not a lot of people where. I talked and prayed every night hoping the pain and anxiety would go away. Things get better. And there is always something out there that can make you smile. It can be the little things. Keep your head up high and learn to love yourself. God made you, you for a reason. 💖
