Happy birthday Squish!!🌸💝 (Was meant to post this yesterday but we were too busy sipping mimosas at 8:30am…)

Can’t believe everything we have lived together this past year 🫣 From you being my boss, to me being your boss, to traveling to New Zealand, then to San Francisco, and everything in between… never a dull moment with the Sams. To many more crazy wild chapters together 🫶🏼🥂💛

I’ve always been jealous of people who knew they wanted to be a dentist. 🦷 not because of a hidden love for teeth, but because it’s SUCH a clear career path. No questions asked. Then there is me. I am a zig-zag person. 🤸🏻‍♀️I keep changing job titles (half of them not even listed here) and I had to learn that that’s okay. Everything is connected cause my read thread stays the same: I make people “look twice”.

That’s what I did in repair (build brand partnerships and put it in a new spotlight so its value was impossible to ignore🏆). That’s also what I do when I make videos about iconic Dutch things (that are “normal” to eyes who have grown up here💘). But if I go to a dinner party tomorrow and the person next to me says “I’m a dentist”, and then turns to me… I will look at them with big eyes not sure of what to say next. I “make you look twice” doesn’t really work as a job title lol. I used to say “founder” but I graduated from my repair chapter (even tho I will alwaysss continue to be an incredibly loud voice for repair and circularity📣), and now I landed in this in-between phase where I don’t quite know what’s next or how to introduce myself… yet! (Yet is a very powerful word here btw) It’s a funky phase, but I can finally say… it’s also pretty exciting. Maybe that’s why I chose this song by Ashe. cause if I learned anything in the last 10 years it’s that “stopping the wedding” can be anything: a city, a relationship or a job. 💒 You are allowed to change direction, if the path you’re on doesn’t feel right anymore. (Even if it doesn’t make sense at first) cause some of the happiest people I’ve met have the most confusing resumes!!! So welcome to this corner of the internet: where we love a good plot twist. Where we move abroad, learn Dutch (again and again), where we “huppel” around and sit on benches. ❤️ #abroad #netherlands #gapyear (s)
