EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas urged the US to increase pressure on Moscow, including through tougher sanctions, while Ireland’s Foreign Minister Helen McEntee described the deal as concerning. Despite Washington’s decision, the EU reaffirmed its commitment to sanctions and adopted its largest-ever expansion of restrictions, targeting more than 1,600 people and entities linked to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
