🚢 In 1992, Giorgetto Giugiaro unveiled the Italdesign Columbus, a nearly six-meter luxury MPV powered by a 5.0-liter BMW V12 producing around 300 hp.

The engine sat transversely in a mid-mounted position beneath the raised central driving cockpit, giving the Columbus one of the strangest layouts of any concept from the era.

Permanent four-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering capable of up to 15 degrees at low speed helped make the enormous one-box design more manageable.

Its carbon-fiber body covered a steel box-section chassis, while the seven-seat cabin could be reconfigured for nine occupants or stripped out for cargo use.

The interior was just as wild, with individual passenger monitors connected to television and VHS systems, plus fiber-optic cabin lighting.

Giugiaro conceived it as an ultra-luxury alternative to the traditional limousine, especially for executives and VIPs, and described the idea as essentially a “sailing ship for dry land.”

More than three decades later, the Columbus still looks like a vision of the luxury MPV that never really happened.

Would you take this BMW V12-powered land yacht over a conventional 1990s limousine?

What are your thoughts? 🤔💭

Last night I finally got to see Fall 2: Deadpoint and it was exhilarating! Had me on the edge of my seat and I loved all the twists in the story.

But it got me wondering just how scary it would be to actually go on a trek like that.

Turns out it's very, VERY scary!

10/10 would not recommend 😬
