![Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named five suspects in an alleged corruption case involving the procurement of goods and services funded by the Dana Siap Pakai (DSP) for disaster management at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). The announcement came on October 14, following a KPK sting operation at BNPB on October 13, during which 14 people were detained. The five suspects include three individuals linked to BNPB: Gabriel Purwaka Sigit, a subdivision head and Commitment-Making Official (PPK); Bima Setiawan and Richard Erlangga, both expert advisers to the BNPB chief. The other two suspects, Gery Prasetiawan and Syifa Nrika Ghifarian, are from the private sector.
KPK has seized approximately Rp3.3 billion in cash, hundreds of grams of gold, and cryptocurrency assets as evidence in connection with the case. The exact value of the cryptocurrency is still being investigated. KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto said the alleged corruption may have been taking place since 2022. Investigators suspect conflicts of interest and bribery in procurement processes involving the Dana Siap Pakai, which is intended to fund urgent disaster response efforts. However, the total state financial losses have not yet been confirmed, and investigators are continuing to examine the details of the case.
