Neighbors, according to reports, multiple Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers have been recommended for termination or resigned after a racist text thread came to light.

Sources say the messages included a competition over who could pull over the most Black drivers, along with repeated use of the word “n****” in discussions about using force and discharging firearms at Black residents.

The messages were discovered during a probe into officer Seth Elliott, who is facing a criminal charge related to the alleged misuse of the Flock Safety network.

In a statement, CMPD said: “We will not tolerate any behavior that contradicts our core values or jeopardizes the trust we have built with the community we serve.”
