The Trump administration has suspended Microsoft, Adobe, Infosys, Tata, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Cognizant and Capgemini from the US Permanent Labour Certification (PERM) programme, alleging m!suse of the system for sponsoring foreign workers for permanent residency.

👉 Why The Companies Were Targeted
US Labour Secretary Keith Sonderling said the Department of Labour would stop accepting new applications and processing pending PERM applications involving the companies. Vice President JD Vance accused the firms of making allegedly !llegitimate representations and urged them to prioritise American workers. The suspensions are expected to remain indefinite.

👉 Impact On Foreign Workers
The PERM programme is a key step in many employment-based green-card applications. The administration said the named companies had sought nearly three million foreign workers since 2009, including more than 230,000 H-1B approvals.
