I went back to the West L.A. Animal Shelter with @joannakrupa, an incredible human being and animal activist who does so much for rescue dogs. She taught me so much about the joys and importance of fostering.

We met some amazing, hardworking rescuers from @deityanimalrescue , @caravitafoundation, @realgoodrescue , and @bigdogenergy_la along with so many beautiful dogs and cats desperately waiting for loving homes.

We met Lola, a 13-year-old Chihuahua who was abandoned by her family just two days ago. We met Max, a beautiful 10-year-old senior dog who had been with his family since he was a puppy and is now in the shelter. We met Laverne, Muneca, Gabriel, and so many other beautiful animals who deserve a better life and just need visibility.

California is facing a massive shelter overpopulation crisis. These dogs spend so much of their lives in kennels, barely getting walks, affection, or opportunities to simply be dogs.

The incredible volunteers and rescuers who work tirelessly every single day to save these animals aren’t getting any support. That has to change.

That’s why I’ve launched CLEAR THE SHELTERS on my website (link in bio).

If you’ve ever thought about fostering or adopting, please visit my website and submit your information.

Someone from my team will connect you with a rescue or shelter volunteer to help make the process as easy as possible.

It doesn’t matter where you are in California, if you can open your heart and your home to a dog we can help you with that process.

We have so many incredible people doing everything they can to save these animals. Imagine what we could accomplish if we gave them the support they deserve.

We have to make a change in California. Too many of those who depend on us are being left behind. Our government needs to show up for those in need.

That’s why I’m running for governor. I’m not a politician. I’m a human being who knows things can be better and wants to do something about it.

I’m asking for your vote, and I’m making a promise to you that I will make California a BETTER place for all of us.

Let’s make life better, California. Just Try It!

I was on the TV show Gold Rush and during the filming you’d be prompted questions to help entice dialogue. The unfortunate truth is that there were times you might respond with your own thoughts, but then met with a reframing of the question or just blatantly have the camera crew say “we’re looking for something more along the lines of….”

This commercial about women in mining was exactly that. I have 5 or 6 honest answers and then finally found what they wanted me to say.
It’s all about the drama.

Although the answer “getting hired” could be truthful, it’s also not what I think of women’s experience in the trade industries.
It’s frustrating that a show that could inspire more women to get into the industry didn’t because they want to focus on the difficulties vs the possibilities.
