reminder that #defundthepolice doesn’t mean no police, it just means abolish what the system is now so that the community receives more access to things that prevent crime rather than investing in the police which don’t even prevent crime. they show up to crimes, they don’t prevent them.

Brett Hankison, Myles Cosgrove, and Jonathan Mattingly still walk free after they entered Breonna Taylor’s home and murdered her while she slept, claiming they made a mistake and thought she was the suspect even though the suspect they were “looking for” was already in custody. but even if they weren’t, the answer to finding that person is NOT entering the home without announcing you’re the police, without a warrant, and with no identification to kill someone while they sleep.

the origins of police come from slavery. they were originally created to catch slaves that were running away from their plantations. the entire police system is built on racism. if you’re not able to see that, check your privilege.
