Over 130 billion pounds of food are wasted in the US each year! Preventing food waste at home helps decrease the amount of food sent to the landfill (where it can’t decompose properly). One of the easiest ways to limit food waste at home is making sure food is stored in a way that will help it last longer, which ultimately helps save money!

Let me know in the comments how you avoid food waste at home, and like for a part two about how I compost while living in an apartment!

Did you know that food waste generally only means unbought food from grocery stores that is discarded, not purchased food?

Yes I need to know how you compost, also if you put glass in the freezer be sure to let it cool &leave room at the top or it will burst!

The freshness produce bags work really well! I also try to freeze whatever we won’t eat quickly. And not overbuying!

Carrots can go as long as 2 weeks like that in the fridge, still crunchy. Awesome trick!

And that’s only in the US...the rest of the world is still a number out there 🙁 Some ideas: There are two ways of composting in your home if you don’t have a garden: Urbalive Wormery & Bokashi bin Secondly, people need to be better at using their food to the fullest: broccoli sticks, radish leaves, cauliflower leaves...and eat the whole apple!! There is a book about how to use food scraps...it is in Danish though but if any Danes are reading this it is called: Skræld er ikke Skrald ✌🏼
