For years, I knew something was wrong with my body. I went from doctor to doctor, trying to explain the pain and symptoms that were taking over my life, only to be told that nothing was wrong. Eventually, I was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS.

Endometriosis meant surgery. I underwent excision surgery in 2023 to remove the disease tissue growing inside my body after years of pain and unanswered questions. It was a major moment in my life, both physically and emotionally. I finally had an explanation for what I had been experiencing, but surgery wasn’t the end of my health journey.

Despite treatment, lifestyle changes, and continuing to search for answers, my symptoms persisted. The pain began affecting my entire body. Eventually, I was diagnosed with lupus, a serious autoimmune disease that can affect multiple organs and become life-threatening.

Research has found associations between endometriosis and certain autoimmune diseases, including lupus, although we still have much to learn about why these conditions overlap. Living through this has made me think deeply about women’s health, the effects of chronic illness on the body, and how much we still don’t understand.

Too many women are taught to normalize debilitating pain instead of being given answers, support, and appropriate care.
I know how isolating it feels to fight for answers while trying to keep your life moving. I also know how fortunate I am to have a supportive family and access to medical care. Not everyone has those resources, and that is one of the reasons this matters so much to me.

I used to think I’d wait until I had my health figured out before sharing my story. But I don’t want to wait for a perfect ending to start a conversation that needs to be happening now.

I’m incredibly grateful to be getting involved with the Endometriosis Foundation and to contribute to the work being done around endometriosis awareness and women’s reproductive health. I’m excited to share more soon. For now, I wanted to start by sharing an overview of my story, because no woman should have to fight this hard to be heard.

You know what.. every now and then I actually learn something from Kevin.

Sometimes, we get so caught up in chasing goals that we forget how lucky we are to be able to chase them in the first place.

Today, I’m not just grateful for the miles or the finish line. I’m grateful for the health to run, the opportunities that come my way, and the freedom to keep dreaming, moving and growing.

Not every finish line is just about the time on the clock. Some are about simply being able to be there. 🤍
