Dear diary, come with me to travel to New York for Halloween from London as someone who loves New York!! And of course the sweet treat snack box came with me and was enjoyed through the entire flight with a cup of tea. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led a mock impeachment ceremony against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar ahead of the INDIA bloc's mega rally in Delhi. The symbolic protest comes amid growing opposition criticism of the Election Commission and its handling of electoral processes. The INDIA bloc has repeatedly raised concerns over alleged irregularities in voter lists and demanded greater accountability from the Election Commission. Opposition parties have also questioned the conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in several states, alleging that the exercise could lead to the exclusion of eligible voters. The Election Commission has maintained that its procedures are aimed at ensuring accurate voter lists and transparent elections. The mock ceremony was organised as a political demonstration against Gyanesh Kumar, with opposition leaders using the event to highlight their grievances against the poll body's functioning. The protest is part of the INDIA bloc's broader campaign demanding accountability and electoral transparency. The development comes ahead of a major rally planned by the opposition alliance in the national capital. The gathering is expected to bring together leaders from several INDIA bloc parties to raise their concerns about the electoral process and press for action on their demands. The protest against the Chief Election Commissioner is likely to intensify the political confrontation between the opposition and the Election Commission. While opposition parties have called for greater scrutiny of the poll body's decisions, the controversy has also brought electoral transparency and the independence of constitutional institutions into focus. The mock impeachment ceremony is symbolic and does not constitute a formal impeachment or removal process against the Chief Election Commissioner.
