We lost one of our own this week. Richard David Story was our travel czar at @airmailweekly; he has been with us since our launch. I was fortunate enough to edit his column, after admiring him from afar for my entire career. As others have said, he was the last of the great gentlemen editors. But I’ll remember him best as a friend. A friend who was always up for a good meal and quality conversation, a friend who was always hellbent on using his enviable knowledge and experience to enrich the lives of others, a friend who cherished his family and revealed an open and curious heart to everyone he knew. Decades of second-to-none work will always live on, but I miss him terribly, and above all, feel so awfully lucky to have known him. He was such an important part of our work family—such things still exist, and matter—and @airmailweekly just isn’t the same without him. ❤️
