Barbera Thornhill is the new face of America’s fight against human trafficking, and her welcome post has already been viewed more than 10 million times. Assistant Secretary of State Riley Barnes introduced her on Tuesday as the new Ambassador at Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. President Trump nominated Thornhill in May, and the Senate confirmed her 51 to 47 in August. She’s a Los Angeles business executive and philanthropist who says she worked with Mother Teresa in India in the 1990s, and Trump previously nominated her as ambassador to Singapore in 2019 before that nomination was withdrawn in 2021. Her office leads the State Department’s anti-trafficking work and publishes the annual Trafficking in Persons Report, which holds governments around the world accountable for how they handle the issue. Advocacy group PACT raised concerns during her nomination that she lacks significant experience in federal anti-trafficking policy, while Thornhill has said she plans to treat survivors as partners in shaping policy. 🐇🌹 Down the Rabbit Hole We Go. A table design inspired by Alice in Wonderland There’s a curious magic in watching a story tumble off the page and land right on the table. 🐇✨ For this special collaboration, a group of close friends and I each selected the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland to bring to life through tablescapes and a book review. Each layout captures the mad tea parties, curious keys, painted roses, and topsy-turvy wonder that linger in our minds long after the story ends. I chose the Queen of Hearts for her drama and her rose garden. My black velvet cloth and harlequin runner became her royal court, with red roses for painting the roses red, plus brass keys, playing cards, and vintage teacups from my cabinet. And my flatware from @annovame and @annova_es “We’re all mad here.” Be sure to explore the wonderful creations of my friends linked below to discover the details of the book that inspired their whimsical displays. You are going to adore the curiosity and imagination each of them brought to this event! 🎩🐇💌 Alma @almademesa_ Maria @mesas.connombre Sharon and  Leanne @thesistersnarrative Raul @rfnandezmesas Valeria @valeriafuentesoppliger Terry @thats2cutedesignllc Elena @elenaposadanunez Poppy @poppy_sets_the_table Vicky @vickymami8482 Vickie @myhappytables Vivi @estilistadefiestas_chile Vero @bajo.mis.alas Carolina @lulumaisonny Yaya @yayagrz Yve @yslisa1111 Rosalind @rosalindthomson Sony @sonygomez31 Debbie @boldernotolder Mireya @a_bit_of_cottage_charm Stella @gardentable25 (HOST)
My baby brother, I never knew this was your favorite song. And when I heard the words, I immediately remembered the post you made for us while we were in Sardinia. And now I’ve listened to it on repeat 100 times, crying my eyes out and smiling at the same time. Never above you, never below you. Always beside you. I love you so much, my baby brother. And now my heart will forever be missing a piece. But I still see you every day when I look at my boys. They are literally little baby Louies, and Kayin is little Lara. And they will always love each other, be each other’s best friends, and protect each other. It’s still us. With all the things we only wished we had as kids. But with a better understanding of love, loss, compassion, and empathy. I’ll teach them to live life to the fullest And in your words, “Don’t waste it, taste it!” lol We’re all we got ❤️ I’ve had the hardest time making this post. I’ll never find the perfect photos to post of you or the right words to say goodbye. I still don’t believe this is real. So for now, I’ll just think of you always beside me. ❤️ * Last image is the song “Always beside you” by Common Kings Even if I’m standing tall, never looking down low Even if I’m standing, honestly, never too good for ya No matter how far I go, I’m never too cool I’ll stay beside you In every situation you’re my equal, ain’t no I am people If anybody tells ya different, don’t listen they’re deceitful No the money don’t make you, it’s you that makes the money You’ll always need somebody, beside you Cause I’m never above you, oh Never below you, oh no oh no Just take a look around, you’ll see I’m always beside you, only beside you Ohohohoh Beside you, ohohohoh
