Happy Easter from L.I.C.K. 🐣🐰
Easter is one of our busiest times of the year because of kitten season.
Kitten season is a term used to describe the period in which cats mostly breed and give birth. Although cats can breed nearly all year long, Kitten Season tends to start when the weather begins to get warmer (March/April) until late autumn.
We work hard to take in any pregnant cats, mums and kittens and sometimes sadly, orphaned kittens. We always neuter the mums and find them a good home once the kittens have gone to their forever homes. Sometimes we re-home a mamma cat with one of her kittens.
Although it is the busiest time of the year for us, it is very rewarding work as we get to rescue 4-7 cats at one time.
If you are considering adopting a kitten, please make sure you do plenty of research beforehand. Kittens can be a lot of work, they are hugely demanding of your time. They need four feeds a day, countless litter changes, constant entertainment and they don’t come with a switch off button!
Some people prefer kittens so they are able to bond with them from a young age and because they are worried about adult cat’s personalities. However, a kitten’s personality can change with time. Adults cats are more self-reliant (and don’t need supervision at all times), their personality is much more defined and they’re less likely to climb up the curtains. 🙀
Whether you decide to open your home to a cat or kitten, please ensure you do lots of research around the responsibilities of bringing a kitty into your family. Please read our guidelines in the ADOPTION page on our website carefully for more information.
