Chicago 2026: Can you be fully proud of the fight even if you’re disappointed and the time on the clock was far off what you felt capable of? Today’s @chimarathon was a very similar experience as 2021 and 2024 for me. Went out in what I thought would be conservative in the warmth and high humidity, but still really struggled in the back half. Kept fighting, kept trying to go with every male runner that went around me the last 6 miles. I’m proud of that fight. 2:32, 18th, 1st masters. The upside of age is experience, and I’m drawing on the next races after those Chicagos for me. In 2021 I set the American record in the half marathon a few months later. In 2024. just one month later, I ran 7 minutes faster than I did in Chicago and set the American masters record. Keep showing up and keep swinging. Go all in and fight to the end, but no matter the result, have short term memory— and go again. If your race was similar, I hope this encourages you to not believe in yourself any less. There will be a moment where you see that fitness realized. I still have so many beautiful memories of rolling along smiling thinking “these are the days” before things went south thanks to all of you that came out—thank you! We lick our wounds, we recover, we dream again—and go again. See you then ❤️💙 📷: @katrinagaisford , @fastwomen
