What joy! Here's a new look at the three-part special of The Other Bennet Sister, coming soon to BritBox.

Why do so many new brick and stone buildings feel completely dead to the eye, even when the budget is huge?

Modern building physics (Part L, fire cavities, vapour membranes) killed the solid monolithic wall. Unless you’re building a single-storey pavilion out of solid cork (like the Cork House I worked on at CSK) or putting a structural stone exoskeleton outside the thermal line like Groupwork, multi-storey buildings are forced to wear a 300mm environmental sandwich.

Instead of owning that reality, 90% of commercial architecture lies (from 20mm brick slips and mastic-sliced lintels to The Ritz extension gluing classical limestone wallpaper onto barcode) stickered precast concrete panels.

Swipe through for the full autopsy.

Part III drops next week: How to detail a 300mm facade that never lies to the street.

Gwyn 🩵 | ACOTAR

Please no ship wars under this post. Gwyn is also one of the characters in this story, and she doesn’t have to be associated with males only. She kinda exists as a separate person 🩵

So, after reading her part in ACOSH, she kinda seems suspicious to me. I wouldn’t make her a villain now. But the thing is that her distancing herself from Nesta and Emerie is the weirdest thing for now. She didn’t even attend Nesta’s mating ceremony, like, what happened?

Probably she was upset that they knocked her out at the Rite. But in this scene in ACOSH, she and her sisters priestesses for sure behaved suspiciously. Maybe they grew tired of the fact that nobody is doing anything about the Illyrians and Hybern, since the majority of them caused the priestesses huge damage. And the thing is that they somehow used Briaxis to attack Rhys and Nyx’s Naming Ceremony - does that mean they don’t agree with him and his politics? (Which is another topic to discuss, but in my opinion, he is making crazy and ill-considered moves and decisions right now.)

Somehow, I think they probably feel betrayed or forgotten, so now, since they’ve discovered the Valkyrie skills, and even have a Valkyrie who’s one of them, they feel empowered to do something about it?

Idk, probably something is brewing there… Your thoughts? I’d love to hear what you think.
