The feeling of summer feels new and old at the same time. There’s a loneliness and time that is abundant right about now for most and I wanted to talk a bit about that. A bit about yearning and staying with things that don’t work anymore. (bare with me if you’d like, i know i talk a lot)
Recently, I’ve been learning what it really means to love yourself unconditionally and love others without burden. For a long time I thought those loves were the same; however, through trial and error, I now know that I was wrong. Loving yourself is much more abstract, there’s a lack of tangibility and only you know it’s there— kind of like an imaginary friend. Others will show you that they love you through actions, words and it feels like those words enter you like breathing, it’s easier to take without question of how. But showing love to yourself is like either hard labor or hard time. I want to make it clear this is not a how to: on loving yourself. That is for you to learn and cultivate. But I do, still, have a lot to say.
For a long time I believed I needed to love others unconditionally, even if it meant that I needed to set my feelings and sanity aside. I don’t do that anymore. I feel guilty. But the thing is, it usually meant that I’d find myself angry when I was alone. And maybe I’m going off on a tangent, but I think you should value your sanity and kindness more than anything in the world even if it means you leave your normal. Because why live in an uncomfortable normal for the sake of holding onto it 𝘮𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 changing or getting better.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Learning to ignore it doesn’t mean it’s not there.
Okay, sorry, my point is: it’s okay to let go. Of people. Of hobbies. Of parts of yourself. Really anything.
Choosing yourself is okay, it’s not selfish no matter how many people will tell you otherwise. I’m not saying to trample on others, being unkind should never be an option. But remember that you yourself deserve kindness, always be the first ready to give it.
Throw it like confetti <3
