The Line We Draw Inside, we imagine safety. Outside is where we put whatever feels uncertain. The doorways in The Beautiful Collapse question that separation. Environmental change can feel distant until it reaches the places we know. We wanted to look at the comfort a boundary gives us, and the limits of that comfort. A line can mark where a room begins without deciding what stays outside. ——————————

THE BEAUTIFUL COLLAPSE We created this series to explore how we respond to a world in disarray. When an image of loss is beautiful, does it help us understand what’s happening, or make it easier to admire and move on?
Inspired by Gothic Romanticism, we were drawn to the tension between beauty and ruin. Sand gathers until somewhere familiar no longer feels the same. There is no single dramatic moment to point to, just the growing weight of what has been allowed to accumulate.
The finished series moves through three spaces: an entrance, a box, and a corner filled with sand. The entrance suggests the boundary we draw between ourselves and the outside world. The box turns that world into something framed and observed. In the corner, the change can no longer be kept at a distance.
Working with Entity’s thirteen dancers, we placed the precision of trained bodies and carefully made clothing inside an environment that neither could control. The contrast matters: so much human effort, beside a force that carries on regardless. We made these photographs beautiful deliberately. As image-makers, we are part of the same culture we’re questioning. The title holds that contradiction: something can be beautiful to look at and still show something being lost. Our intention is to make room for both reactions, and to ask what remains with us after we stop looking.
