Around 80 Delhi Police personnel staged a protest outside the force’s headquarters on Monday, November 2, demanding the reinstatement of two officers transferred following a dispute with lawyers at Shahdara police station. The protesters sought the restoration of ACP Manasvi Vashistha and Inspector Arun Kumar, the former Station House Officer (SHO) of Shahdara police station. The personnel demanded a meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar to raise their concerns over the transfers. The controversy began on October 23, when advocate Lalit Bansal allegedly suffered a serious head injury during a scuffle. Lawyers later accused the police of mishandling the case and alleged that ACP Vashistha displayed his loaded revolver and threatened them during a confrontation at the police station. The revolver allegation has been disputed by senior police officers. The incident triggered an indefinite strike by lawyers across Delhi’s district courts, who demanded action against the officers concerned. The strike was called off on October 28 after the transfers were ordered. Vashistha was moved to the Special Police Unit for Women and Children, while Kumar was transferred to the Delhi Police Security unit. However, the transfers sparked resentment among sections of the police force. Messages circulated in police WhatsApp groups calling on personnel to assemble outside headquarters and support the two officers. On Monday, senior officers attempted to persuade the protesters to move inside the headquarters for discussions. However, the personnel insisted on meeting the commissioner. The dispute has exposed tensions between the police and legal fraternity. In a separate development, both sides have agreed to establish a joint coordination committee and appoint nodal officers to address grievances and prevent similar confrontations in the future.

I wish I had the words to explain the heartbreak of saying goodbye to our Harley girl tonight. 💔 She came into our lives at exactly the time we needed her most. She was pure sunshine and rainbows, and she healed our hearts in more ways than she’ll ever know. She brought so much love, laughter, and happiness into our lives, and I don’t think we’ll ever be able to put into words just how much she meant to us. When she was diagnosed with lymphoma, I knew this day would eventually come, and I knew it would be painful. But I don’t think anything could have prepared me for the heartbreak of actually having to say goodbye. Thank you for giving us the most beautiful three years, Harley. Thank you for loving us the way you did and for making our lives so much better just by being in them. I’ll think about you every single day until we meet again. 🪽 And if it’s true what they say about time being different in heaven, you’ll see me in the morning. ❤️‍🩹
