The Journal | GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller—My morning started—let’s say gleefully. Emily yelled from the living room that she was coming in. || Read this and more on Patreon (link in bio). || “Happy Halloween. Do something cute.” She had my Canon pointed at me. “I was going to put my leggings on first.” She looked around the room. “Are you even my sister? If you say you were going to wear shoes, I’m calling Officer Lopez and asking for help!” Okay… granted… How can you not smile when that kind of joy greets you first thing in the morning? It is Halloween, and the kids are all going to a party at church later. Geoni’s surprise Halloween outfits for Emily and Kel have yet to be unveiled. But before that, Dylan Cruz, the tutor we’re considering, is coming by to meet everyone. The school gave us his name and said he’s great, so we’re optimistic. Jason has gone to Walmart to get some things for dinner tonight. We’ve invited everyone to our condo for a casual paper-plate event. I’ll share more details about our plans for the evening later. It’s going to be a big day. My putzing around the condo and writing will probably be the least interesting part, but I’ll check in later. See you then! ~~ PLEASE HELP THE JOURNAL GROW: If you’d like to help AGI, please leave a comment, save this post, and share it. Your comments not only let me know what you think and give my day a lift, but they also help this post get shown to others who might like it. Time has a strange way of feeling slow when you’re living through it, yet incredibly fast when you look back. One moment you’re celebrating the beginning of a new year, and before you know it, another one is already approaching. As people get older, years can seem to pass even faster because daily routines become more familiar, making it harder to distinguish one period of life from another. Psychologists suggest that our perception of time is influenced by memory, attention, and how many new experiences we have. Childhood often feels longer because nearly everything is new, while adulthood can become repetitive as responsibilities and routines take over. Looking back at how quickly the 2020s have passed is a reminder that time keeps moving regardless of whether we’re ready for it. The fact that 2030 is now closer than 2020 is genuinely hard to process. 😭 #TimeFlies #Nostalgia #GrowingUp
