This is hybrid warfare: cyberattacks, disinformation, sabotage, espionage, energy pressure and GPS jamming, each kept just below the threshold that would trigger a military response. A US Congressional Research Service report found russian hybrid attacks on EU countries increased fourfold between 2023 and 2024, and it singles out Bulgaria as particularly vulnerable.

Bulgaria’s Invisible War is my reportage on russia’s hybrid campaign against Bulgaria, 2022–2026.

The hard reality of being bipolar, especially with rapid cycling, is how fast the weather inside your own head can change. One day there’s sunlight. The next, it feels like somebody opened the ocean and told you to swim. Right now, the darkness caught up with me again. There’s been too much pressure, too many problems, too much noise from the outside, and I’m trying to find my way back through it without turning every bad day into evidence that I’m failing at life. I don’t want to sit here and pity myself. But I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t sometimes feel like whatever I do is somehow wrong, too much, not enough, too late, too sensitive, too distant. So if my replies are slower right now, that’s why. Today’s great heroic achievement was getting out of bed and finally taking a shower. Sometimes surviving the wave looks less like fighting and more like refusing to let it carry you completely away. #bipolarreality #rapidcycling #quietbattles #onedayatatime #bipolardisorder

Some paths look like someone really nailed the design.

Those old trees, the perspective and the last bits of autumn green. Exactly the kind of scenes I love!
