On Thursday, October 8, we celebrated Glasswing’s 12th Annual Gala, bringing together an extraordinary community in New York City to celebrate the power and potential of young people.

We were proud to honor Andrea and Emory Jones for their commitment to expanding opportunities for young people and their hands-on support of Glasswing’s community programs. Emory is a co-founder of Paper Planes and a Roc Nation executive, working across music, fashion and culture.

We also presented the Glasswing Humanitarian Award to Sara Omi Casamá, an Emberá Indigenous leader and lawyer from Panama who advocates for Indigenous peoples, women and young people.

Together, we raised $1.4 million to support programs in education, mental health and economic opportunity across Latin America, the Caribbean and New York City.

Thank you to my fellow co-chairs, Jana Pasquel de Shapiro, Leticia Ossa-Daza and Victoria Alianelli; our dinner host, John Moore; and our host committee and partners. A special thank you to Glasswing’s three founders, Celina de Sola, Ken Baker and Diego de Sola, for the extraordinary work they do and for bringing us together around this important mission.

And finally, thank you to my life partner, John Skipper, who also serves on Glasswing’s board.
