this thanksgiving i am thankful for being surrounded by so much love and support by my family and closest friends. on tuesday i was admitted to butler hospital for some intensive inpatient treatment. i had spent thursday by myself in my room doing word searches and reading to try and distract myself from thinking about spending my favorite holiday without my favorite people. i then took a step back and a couple of deep breaths, and realized that i was doing all that treatment so that i could spend countless more of my favorite holidays with my favorite people. the ones that i will have in the future will make up for that one that i missed. i was trying to fall asleep last night i was thinking about what to caption this post (i also couldn’t sleep. hospital beds are not very comfortable). to be honest i still don’t know. im just typing and hoping i get somewhere that makes sense. the one thing i did know though, was that i wanted to include pictures of some people that mean a lot to me and have been there for me on my journey since the very beginning. in posting this i am trying to be vulnerable and talk about something that i have been struggling with for about six years now, and hoping that others will share their stories and make all of this less stigmatized. if you are part of the 1 in 4 and are reading this now, i see you. i love you. and i am always here for you. although i have posted about this a couple times before, doesn’t mean it makes it any easier posting this one. putting a huge part of myself on the internet for everyone to see is scary-especially something like this. my intent is to make it less scary for everyone else. if at the end of the day one person has read this and has decided to prioritize themselves today, i know i have done something right. life is full of ups and downs and all of the in betweens but you have gotten through it all so far. keep going. i promise it’s worth it, it’s beautiful here.
