Indonesia has officially reduced natural gas exports to Singapore, effective October 24, 2026, as part of efforts to prioritize domestic energy needs. The policy was announced by Indonesia’s Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas). The reduction involves gas supplies from two regions: Natuna and Sumatra. Gas from Natuna is being redirected to support power generation in Batam, while supplies from Sumatra are intended to meet electricity needs in Batam, Bintan, and Sumatra. The move reflects Indonesia’s efforts to optimize domestic natural gas use and secure energy supplies for the country’s power and industrial sectors. However, Indonesia has not halted all natural gas exports to Singapore. The policy involves a reduction in allocated pipeline gas supplies rather than a complete export ban.
