If you haven’t heard of Pompano Beach, Florida, it’s time for you to know about it!
This beautiful, family-friendly, and laidback city a short drive north of Fort Lauderdale offers accessible beach access.
While I was there, I saw people with many different mobility aids enjoying the outdoors including their fishing pier and promenade area.
Accessibility makes it possible for disabled people to access the benefits of being outside near the ocean.

Beach access is so important for disabled people.
That’s why I’m excited to show you Pompano Beach.
I’m standing right here on a promenade that is well-maintained and flat.
Look at all of this!
This is an amazing way to walk by the beach.
And then there are many paths where you can then access the water.
Pompano Beach also has access mats for wheelchair users and free wheelchairs that you can just call and get when you come to the beach.
Everyone deserves access to enjoy the outdoors, including the beach.

I’m a disabled Journalist, and I fully understand what you’re saying. I’m so grateful to see another differently abled person speak up about access. It’s something most people don’t even acknowledge, especially in a place where everyone is so active.
