The hour long tree walk at the UBC Botanical Gardens would be so lovely to do but it’s not accessible. Thankfully, I’ve borrowed the four wheel mobility scooter donated by friends of the garden, Margaret and Charlie. Charlie has recently passed away, but this is an incredible gift to the community and I’m glad that the staff check my advice to get a liability and waiver form for people with disabilities to sign. I gave them some feedback, including the fact that they cannot force people to wear a helmet and that expecting people to only go at the very lowest speed is unreasonable. #ubcbotanicalgarden #ubctreewalk by @dancewithjanice

I packed a picnic and phoned ahead and booked this wonderful mobility scooter named Margaret after the woman who donated it to help people explore the gardens here at the UBC Botanical Gardens. Her partner, Charlie, donated a second mobility scooter. The lovely staff have taken my advice and consulted a lawyer and come up with a liability and waiver form. I gave them some feedback on how inappropriate it was to expect somebody to wear a helmet and only go turtle speed. The staff are awesome. I had a chance to chat with Erin,the writer in residence, at the Branching Out Gala and perhaps we will come up with a story together. by @dancewithjanice

Yes, it’s good for the soul to ride with #bcmos! Thank you to the cycling coordinator Kristina and my friend @liamtoone for the chance to cycle on this magnificent summer day here in Vancouver. I look forward to our next ride! Hopefully no more close calls with sudden stops almost sending two of us over the handlebars. Whew! Success! I finally emailed the City of Burnaby to request that two bus stops be made more accessible for larger mobility aids like my mobility scooter and I was delighted to see two garbage cans repositioned on the Willingdon Ave overpass in Burnaby. Now there is more space for the ramp to be deployed. ♿️🇨🇦 by @dancewithjanice

Rescuing three white balloons from the ocean was not what my youngest nephew and I had in mind when we set out in these very stable kayaks that were made available to us by British Columbia Mobility Opportunities Society (#BCMOS) but we were celebrating his 20th birthday and they did look great on the kayak. by @dancewithjanice
