Chandi Homam at Vijayawada Kanaka Durgamma Temple. 🙏🏼 I perform Chandi Homam every year, and visiting Ammavaru on Indrakeeladri is also an absolute must whenever I come to India. This year, I signed up for the Saswatha Chandi Homam, so the offering can take place each year even when I cannot be there in person. I was grateful to attend this one myself. I had no idea which tithi I had chosen. It was only after I sat down before the homam that the priest explained why today was special. In Chapter 12 of the Devi Mahatmyam, Ammavaru speaks of reciting and listening to her glory with devotion on Ashtami, Navami and Chaturdashi. Chaturdashi is considered especially potent for Chandi Devi worship. And there I was, at her temple on Chaturdashi, on a Friday, a day we’ve always held dear for Ammavaru. I went to Indrakeeladri to see Ammavaru, as I always do, and to make sure this offering would continue in the years I couldn’t be there. To learn what day she had brought me to her, while sitting before her for the homam, felt like a blessing I hadn’t even known to ask for. ❤️
