Beware: Cupid is on the loose🏹🤪
I was not going to share about this, but it’s a reminder to all of us: advocate for your health and get checked. Ask to be on the cancellation list (I got in earlier than expected!) and remember that especially as women, we deal with things that deserve our attention and it is not normal to ‘push through’ exhaustion or discomfort. Even though we are busy and have kids and a huge mental load and a million things to do all the time. I went for minor surgery yesterday for an issue I’d been having for a long time. Thank goodness I am fine, really, not a progressive or life-threatening thing but I had to advocate for this, and in our ‘free’ healthcare system, I waited almost 6 months for a day procedure that I should have gotten right away. I am SO appreciative to the care team at Sunnybrook who was nothing short of amazing, and I am also saddened about the state of our healthcare system, which is so stressed. I had an issue that caused me daily challenges I had to wait months for, because there was only minimal OR time allocated to this ‘non life threatening issue’ per month. Many, many women I know deal with the same thing and it’s super frustrating to have to wait. Anyway I’m grateful to be over this hump and I’m hoping my message resonates with anyone who sees this to remember that all the money in the world will not buy you your health, so please advocate for yourself and as always, take good care 🤍🤍🤍
I foolishly left comments open on my recent Facebook post about having Covid and feeling crap. Bear in mind all I did was suggest folk mask up when possible. The mindless, ignorant hatred that exists out there is terrifying. These people (or at least those that aren't bots) walk among us, and they feel secure enough to openly insult people for literally no reason, call them names, use slurs and all sorts. It's bloody awful. I know it's likely people have always been like this but still, what the hell has happened to us? It feels like society has fractured badly in the last ten years, even worse than things were before.
