Treehugger A couple of days ago I had to self arrest by headbutting a tree. I've been on this trail and bunch of times but it seems I needed to relearn some hard lessons. While climbing down a steep slope I was holding on to the rope but like a total moron I was using just one arm. My other was carrying my overly massive tripod. One little misstep on some greasy mud and my already torn up shoulder lost it's tenuous grip on the rope and I went for an impromptu roll down the slope. With the bear spray can poking me in the face and my tripod discarded I was totally out of control. My abrupt stop  was delivered by a sturdy aspen where a small piece of my forehead skin still resides. I prefer to consider myself rather lucky. After a few minutes of coming to my senses I got back on the trail and captured some lovely shots which you'll see here. All was good. Here is a summary of the lessons I'd already learned years ago but needed to relearn. After that I'm going to ask for your advice: Wear Gloves when roping Use small camera bag specifically for climbing Bring smallest/lightest tripod Slide down on bum during tricky spots Purchase new shoulder The final tip is the one I need your help with. Clearly, I need some kind of emergency beacon device for when things go sideways. I've heard you can get those watched based beacons but are they any good? Do you have any advice on the best kind of gadget for when you're deep in the woods and canyons and might one day need emergency help? Even if it's a flat tire where there's no cell coverage or getting lost in fog. What's the best modern tool for tricky situations? Thanks for reading. Gavin - Fototripper

Launch day wasn’t champagne and a big glossy moment. It was no sleep, a few tears, refreshing the orders every thirty seconds, a walk to clear the head and a homemade spice bag to finish it off. And then Jackie sold out in 48 hours. I still can’t quite believe it. Every single order, every message and every share has meant more to me than I can put into words. This little business is built on so much more than clothes and you’ve made this weekend one I’ll never forget. From a very tired, very grateful house, thank you. 🤍 Jackie is back on pre-order now, shipping on or before 16 November. #vlog #themanaeffect
