Musician Kid Rock is facing questions over his claim that he was born in Dearborn, Michigan, during a Fox News interview in which he made controversial remarks about Muslims and the city’s Arab American community. During the interview with Lara Trump, Kid Rock claimed he was born in Dearborn and suggested his family had deep roots in the city. However, published biographies, including information from the Detroit Historical Society, identify his birthplace as Romeo, Michigan, where he also grew up. Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, was born on January 17, 1971. During the interview, the musician also discussed Dearborn’s Muslim population, warned about the possibility of a future religious civil war, and criticized Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed. Dearborn is home to one of the largest Arab American communities in the United States and has frequently been the subject of misleading claims and anti-Muslim rhetoric. This is not the first time Kid Rock has claimed to have been born in Dearborn. He made a similar statement during a 2024 appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
