Neighbors, A 66-year-old Florida teaching assistant is facing child abuse charges after allegedly attacking a student with special needs at East Ridge High School.
______________
According to Law&Crime, Michael Anthony Jones allegedly told the student he was not allowed to use the word “gay.” Jones claimed the student then spit on him, prompting him to remove the child’s shoe and repeatedly strike him with it.
______________
Surveillance footage reportedly captured Jones hitting the student approximately four times, including twice on his bottom, once near his head and once on his arm. The student was also allegedly dragged across the floor by his feet.
______________
Even more disturbing, a second video recorded by another student reportedly showed the victim appearing frightened and backing away before Jones allegedly struck him again, knocking him to the ground.
______________
When questioned by deputies, Jones admitted using the shoe, reportedly stating, “Without question, I took his shoe off and spanked [him] with it.” However, he denied punching or pushing the student.
______________
Jones was arrested and charged with child abuse without great bodily harm and simple battery. He was released after posting an $11,000 bond.
______________
The school district confirmed Jones, who had worked there since 2008, would not be allowed back on campus and could face termination. Records also revealed he previously received a written reprimand in 2017 for inappropriate language around students.](https://s1.imginn.com/859220295_18254973619311829_1678643417390906216_n.jpg?t51.82787-15/859220295_18254973619311829_1678643417390906216_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_p1179x1179_tt6&_nc_cat=1&ig_cache_key=NDAxMTczMjQxNTU4OTc0MjU3Nw%3D%3D.3-ccb7-5&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=58cdad&efg=eyJ2ZW5jb2RlX3RhZyI6IkZFRUQueHBpZHMuMjQ2NC5zZHIucmVndWxhcl9waG90by5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=YDFZysd3EEUQ7kNvwFltKrX&_nc_oc=AdpfsS_hnNu71Ezz6WpRNsLUT4K_2j-zX7qAZOEVHvKSI6C_tw5ZdlsHyTETc3PxnDtdkbYiGyRaplxTNxh3OUpu&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-dfw6-1.cdninstagram.com&_nc_gid=bbOE_a6qaHK66ZWZPP8Huw&_nc_ss=70689&oh=00_AQNumKT_jr08sWv40-__CK88uJmBM5fX8eLD8zFiSceRtw&oe=6ADCA6C2)
