Shy & introverted people tend to find big groups exhausting, have less interest in small talk & just generally avoid having the spotlight on them.
If this sounds like you, remember that getting to know people one-to-one & speaking through your work is a very valid visibility tactic. Never feel under pressure to be more outgoing in order to fit in.

In my masters class, I always arrive early so I can connect one on one before the crowd arrives. Lecturer does same too. We stay in class jisting before crowd arrives until one day when he asked me for a huge sum. I have dropped connecting one on one. People abuse it.

Sometimes it can be different for those living in different countries or even with company cultures. My last job with one of the biggest retail companies in the middle East. Most employees came from a certain demographic. For those guys the louder, the more outgoing the more extroverted the more social etc we're the more successful. Unfortunately they saw some of us introverted employees as docile etc which boiled my blood. But nice to know these tips could probably work elsewhere and not in toxic third world environments.
