Now that the Rolex Perpetual Padellone has had some time to settle in, we’re taking another look at one of the brand’s most mechanically complex modern watches. Its moonphase display and instantaneous annual calendar draw on Rolex’s historic calendar watches of the 1940s and early 1950s while incorporating contemporary watchmaking innovations. The 39mm case is offered in Everose gold and platinum across three configurations. It balances vintage proportions with contemporary details, including a new Settimo bracelet available in Everose gold. The automatic Calibre 7190 features Rolex’s patented Haplos annual calendar system, which allows the day, date, and month to change instantaneously at midnight. It also incorporates the Dynapulse escapement and Syloxi hairspring. Has your opinion of the Perpetual Padellone changed since its debut?

President Donald Trump agreed Wednesday with Vice President JD Vance that the Iran war contributed to Republicans’ midterm losses, but said he would make the same decision again. “I think it’s largely true,” Trump said, pointing to a short-term rise in gasoline prices. He defended the war as necessary to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Earlier Wednesday, Vance wrote on X, “The reason we lost is the war,” after Democrats won control of the House and Senate. Vance said many voters who backed the Trump-Vance ticket in 2024 showed up but voted for Democrats. Citing an unnamed pollster, he said those voters wanted the war ended, action on living costs and inflation, an “America First” focus and changes to the U.S. relationship with Israel. Vance’s post came before Trump’s Wednesday remarks, though Trump had also acknowledged Tuesday night that Iran contributed to the losses while defending his decision to launch the war.
Before kick-off in the Champions League match, FC Bayern and Atlético Madrid observed a minute’s silence in memory of Jesús de Miguel Alameda, a footballer with the Spanish club CD Tenerife who died following a tragic accident on the pitch, and the victims of the train crash in the province of Toledo. Both teams wore black armbands as a sign of sympathy. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families, friends and all the loved ones of those who have died.
