18-YEAR-OLD DRIVER DECEASED AFTER VEHICLE SPLITS IN HALF IN SOUTHWEST HOUSTON A young driver, believed to be just 18 years old, lost his life early this morning, October 31, 2026, after crashing into a pole in southwest Houston. According to HPD, an off-duty officer witnessed the vehicle traveling approximately 80 mph through the intersection of South Sam Houston Parkway West and South Post Oak Road around 3 AM. Moments later, the vehicle struck a pole with such force that it split in half, ejecting the driver from the car. Houston firefighters arrived at the scene and attempted lifesaving measures, but unfortunately, the young driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. HPD investigators are still working to determine what led to the crash and have not confirmed whether alcohol played a role.
