๐Ÿšจ CLINICIANS โ€” WHATโ€™S YOUR EYE CATCHING IN THIS GAIT? ๐Ÿ‘€ Every step tells us something. But great clinicians donโ€™t just observe movementโ€ฆ they know what to look for and WHY itโ€™s happening. When evaluating gait, challenge yourself to look at the entire kinetic chain. ๐Ÿ” ๐Ÿฆถ INITIAL CONTACT: Is the foot striking the ground appropriately? ๐Ÿฆต WEIGHT ACCEPTANCE: Is the patient demonstrating adequate stability and control? ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ HIP & PELVIS: Are you noticing compensations, asymmetries, or abnormal movement? โšก PUSH-OFF: Is there adequate propulsion and lower-extremity power? ๐Ÿง  THINK BEYOND THE DEVIATION: Is the underlying issue related to strength, mobility, motor control, or neuromuscular function? THE BIGGER PICTURE: Donโ€™t just identify what looks abnormal. Develop a hypothesis, test it, and determine WHY the patient is moving that way. ๐Ÿ‘‡ PUT YOUR CLINICAL EYE TO THE TEST! 1๏ธโƒฃ What specific gait deviation are you observing? 2๏ธโƒฃ What impairment would you investigate first? 3๏ธโƒฃ What would you test to confirm your hypothesis? Letโ€™s hear your clinical reasoning! ๐Ÿ”ฅ
