$The stars are just the night sky's mice... The first image is Webb's near-infrared view of the Cat's Head Nebula, a star-forming region. Webb can see through the opaque clouds of dust and gas to see the stars forming within. One of these makes up the cat's glowing "eye" and another, with Webb's characteristic eight-pointed diffraction spikes, its whiskers. The second slide shows Webb's mid-infrared look at the Cat's head, the dust shining brightly. There are structures to the left of the cat visible in the infrared that do not appear in @NASAHubble's visible light view (third slide). The cat's eye is reddish here, glowing from inside the dust. The bright yellow ridge along the cat's "chest" shows gas illuminated and ionized by ultraviolet radiation from nearby massive stars. Happy Halloween! You can conquer the whole world and still get stuck at a door you can’t bring yourself to open. 🧠🚪
⠀
That’s what it feels like when your mind starts giving the orders. Wash again. Check again. Don’t touch that. Every rule promises relief, and every time you follow it, the list gets a little longer.
⠀
Here’s what nobody tells you. Fear doesn’t shrink when you obey it. It shrinks when you stop. The peace you’re chasing is waiting on the other side of the discomfort you keep running from.
⠀
You are not every thought that passes through your head. Some of them are just noise, and one of the most powerful things you’ll ever learn is that you don’t have to answer them.
⠀
Every time you resist the urge and walk away anyway, you take back a piece of your life. Do it enough times, and the thing that once ran your entire day becomes just another passing thought.
⠀
The thoughts may keep knocking, but you get to decide whether to open the door.
