So proud of the absolutely incredible season you had, @m.olise! ❤️🤍

A little wander around The Hague today. The city where I was born, where I grew up, and where a part of me will always belong. I love bringing Finn here and showing him the places that were part of my childhood.

It’s funny how certain places hold on to pieces of us, even when we know we’ll never truly return to the lives we once lived there.

I feel something similar about Paris, Milan and London, cities where I lived for a while when I was younger. Every time I return, it feels a little like coming home to a former version of myself.

Back then, I wandered around the world without much of a plan. Everything was still possible. I had no idea where I’d eventually settle, or even if I would. Until I found myself back in the Netherlands, where I decided to study photography at the academy.

And now, all these years later, cities that once felt like the centre of my universe have become places I visit.

How wonderful that I got to live those lives. That all those different cities, countries, cultures, people and experiences helped shape the woman I am today.

And perhaps the most beautiful part is that I now get to share some of those places and memories with Finn. To walk through streets where I once wandered as a young woman, long before I even knew he would exist. To show him a little of the world I knew before I became his mother.

There’s something bittersweet about realising that certain chapters of your life are over. Places you’ll probably never live again. Versions of yourself you’ll never be again.

Been there, done that, loved it, and probably won’t do it again.

But then I think about everything I haven’t done yet. All the places I still want to discover, the things I want to experience, the people I haven’t met and the adventures I haven’t even imagined.

And the funny thing is, I already know there won’t be enough time to do it all.

I’m grateful for the lives I’ve already lived, but I’m just as curious about everything that’s still ahead.

So I suppose I’d better get moving. 😂❤️

Does anyone else feel this way when revisiting places from their past? That strange mixture of nostalgia, gratitude and excitement for everything that's still to come?
