We’re just a week away from Dottie’s due date 🥹 I don’t think it’ll feel that real until she’s in our arms!

I learned from colleagues who were in their early twenties that some had started using cann@bis as early as high school. That is what prompted me to speak about this. When you bring your children to Canada, remember that although you may be giving them access to better opportunities, they are also leaving behind everything familiar to them and adjusting to an entirely new environment. That adjustment takes time, and the influence of their new environment can be significant. To parents, please be intentional about having these conversations with your children. Don’t assume that because they are doing well in school, they are not being exposed to things that could affect their development. And to young people who come to Canada to study on their own, please be careful about the choices you make and the influences you allow into your lives. Cann@bis may be legal in Canada for adults, but legality does not automatically mean it is harmless, especially for young people. The brain continues developing into the mid-twenties, and cann@bis use during adolescence and young adulthood can affect memory, learning, attention and brain development. Children NEED to understand the potential consequences on a non fully developed brain. Why risk the development of a brain you will depend on for the rest of your life for something you can choose to postpone? Parents, please do your best to guide your children through this transition. Give them the information, support and boundaries they need to make informed decisions. Moving to a new country opens doors, but helping our children navigate its culture and challenges is also part of giving them a better future. #canadian #weed #cannabis #nigeriansindiaspora #japa
🇧🇷 HOW FASCINATING. HOLLYWOOD’S MILLIONAIRES HAVE DISCOVERED WHAT’S BEST FOR BRAZIL. Tilda Swinton, Javier Bardem and Mark Ruffalo, celebrities enjoying extraordinary wealth, freedom and the luxury of buying almost anything their hearts desire, are apparently very keen to tell ordinary Brazilians how they should vote. All in the name of “democracy,” naturally. How fascinating that people living behind the comfortable walls of privilege can lecture families thousands of miles away about their political future, without having to live with the consequences themselves. One does wonder: Would they be quite so enthusiastic about Lula’s Brazil if they actually had to live there? Perhaps they should swap Hollywood for Brazil’s impoverished northeast, where Lula has traditionally enjoyed his strongest electoral support. No red carpets. No Hollywood bubble. Just everyday Brazilian realities. IT’S REMARKABLY EASY TO ROMANTICISE POLITICS WHEN SOMEONE ELSE HAS TO LIVE WITH THE RESULTS. 🇧🇷
