Maheka, so many of us think about helping. You keep showing up and actually doing it. Year after year, you make your MCAN fundraiser bigger, more beautiful and more meaningful, raising funds for underprivileged cancer patients at Tata Memorial Hospital. Behind every amount raised is someone waiting for treatment, a family struggling to afford medicines, and a chance to ease their burden. This year must have taken a different kind of strength—your first event without your mum. I’ve seen Aunty stand so proudly in your beautiful creations, cheering you on every year, knowing the purpose her daughter was working towards. Missed seeing her there. I’m sure she would have been so proud of you. Such a lovely evening with my chhote papa, Vipul, Tosti, Mamta, Prerna and Jatin—laughing, giggling and watching so many people give so generously. It felt even more special knowing what that generosity could mean for someone battling cancer. Congratulations, Maheka, and thank you for making us a part of this every year. May God bless you and your family. Came home with a full heart and so much respect for you.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens is facing turmoil within her congressional office after endorsing Republican Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate on Sunday, just two days before Michigan voters head to the polls. Stevens’ longtime chief of staff resigned, along with other members of her team, following her decision to support Rogers over Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed. Additional staff departures were also reported. The endorsement came after Stevens appeared alongside Rogers at Detroit’s Perfecting Church, following days of escalating tensions with El-Sayed, who narrowly defeated her in August’s Democratic Senate primary.
