Potawatomi Zoo

We know you’ve been waiting to hear our baby skunk’s name. After reading through your suggestions, Animal Care and Education agreed on Thistle! She’s soft and sweet, but she has some sassy stomps!

Thistle is about 12 weeks old now. She’s still learning to be an Ambassador Animal, so we’ll start including her in programs in a very limited capacity while she gets used to people. She’s pretty comfortable being handled, and she likes milk treats, but she’s still not so sure about strange noises.

As always, we train animals at their pace and with positive, consistent reinforcement. We want every Thistle to human interaction to be positive for our little girl.
