Not everyone needs constant company to feel happy. For some, having an entire day with no plans, conversations, or social obligations is something they genuinely look forward to.

Time spent alone can provide a sense of freedom that’s difficult to find in a busy world. You can move at your own pace, enjoy your favorite activities, clear your mind, or simply relax without feeling pressured to entertain anyone.

Enjoying solitude doesn’t mean avoiding people or disliking social interaction. It means finding satisfaction in your own presence and not depending on others to make every moment worthwhile.

If you had 24 hours entirely to yourself, with nobody expecting anything from you, would you enjoy it?

10 years ago today, my life changed forever.

And somehow, 10 years later, I’m building something that began in the middle of the hardest season of my life.

When I lost my sister to suicide, my entire world caved in. She was the outgoing one, the protective older sister, and the yin to my yang, or as she used to say, “the sun and the moon.” Without her, I felt untethered. I was timid, numb, and couldn’t picture what life looked like moving forward.

When I started going to the gym, I wasn’t thinking about building muscle or changing my body. I just needed somewhere to go. Something to focus on. A reason to feel something other than sadness.

The gym quickly became my sanctuary.

It gave me a safe place to process grief, build trust in myself, and slowly discover who I was becoming on my own two feet.

Movement saved my mind long before it ever changed my body.

Over time, my relationship with fitness evolved. I learned to train with intention, build my body up instead of breaking it down, and create an 80/20 lifestyle where fitness could exist alongside a full, joyful life.

For 10 years, I’ve wanted to do something in my sister’s honor. Something that would make her proud. I’ve considered so many paths, but this feels right because it connects my sister, my grief, the gym that helped me find my way through it, and the person I’ve become.

As I step into coaching, I want to help women find strength, confidence, and a sense of home within themselves. I want to show them that fitness doesn’t have to be punishment or restriction.

It can be a sanctuary. A place to discover what you’re capable of. A way to find your way back to yourself.

10 years later, I still carry her with me. Maybe this is one way I get to carry her forward.

This is for you, sis. I hope I’m making you proud. ☀️🌙

To anyone navigating a season that feels too heavy, be gentle with yourself. One day, one breath, and one rep at a time.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 anytime for free, confidential, 24/7 support.
