Hope you guys have a great time in my home state. Many wild grasses to play in and Capitol lawns to tinkle on. (My father lived quite close to the Capitol building; wanted his pups to wee at every state capitol!)

A little reminder that I’m human after all

What being woke looks like to me

I filmed this video two years ago, with a heart full of hope that a woman who was capable and educated and qualified would be elected to lead our country.

We all know how that turned out.

It was heartbreaking, baffling, infuriating —and I had this deep feeling of dread. I knew the next two years would be bad, I just didn’t know they would look like this.

I couldn’t believe how many people decided not to vote at all. Too many people have fought and díed and clawed their way to get us the right to choose. What an insult to them when we squander our opportunity to have a say in our government.

I’ve always looked at candidates like buses— you won’t get one that gets you to exactly where you want to go. So, you have to pick the one that gets you the closest. The perfect candidate does not exist. There will never be one that believes everything that you believe, that prioritizes things the way that you would. So, you have to pick the one that gets you the closest to the world that you want to live in.

This is not the world that I want to live in. Where people live in fear, are shot in the streets, who come here looking for a better life and are instead rounded up like animals and put in cages. Where women are watching their rights be stripped away one by one.

Where did our humanity go? What happened to loving your neighbor? I’m not religious, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t what your Bible tells you to do.

I’m not sure when being wide awake became an insult, but my eyes have been wide open and watching what has unfolded here.

And I’ll be damned if I’m going to squander my opportunity to change it. 💙✊🏼 🗳️

Loving yourself and being genuinely happy in your own skin is one of the best feelings ever. 🤍

Your happiness is never dependent on another human being. It starts with you. And genuine self-love shows in the way you treat others, the respect you give and the grace you carry.

The way people choose to treat others often says far more about them than it ever will about the person they’re trying to put down.

And believe me, I don’t respond to hate with hate. Even when no one’s watching …
I love myself far too much to stoop to that level or let anyone else’s bitterness change who I am. ✨🤍

Because, girls, this heart is way too big. I can even find room to love people who hate me. 🤍

Perhaps I should send a little extra love your way. You might need it more than you realise. 😉

The road was rocky,
the winds were wild,
and standing still was a challenge in itself.
But all I could think of was dancing to this beautiful music, in this breathtaking place.

I’ve wanted to dance to this music for the longest time. And today, I finally gathered the courage to let go, feel the moment and just dance!

Because sometimes, happiness doesn’t need words.
It just needs a rhythm. ❤️💃
