15/819 I have a bad habit of thinking I need more space to play in the trigger range than I actually need. I know if I keep my corners focused the notes come out cleaner but it’s a hard habit to break for some reason. I usually play in that range with a different embouchure than my regular one, but I’ve been trying to extend my regular embouchure further down to better facilitate easier shifting #trombone #music #practice #orchestra #excerpts

The end of Wagner’s ‘Short Call’ is really tricky. Here is a practice technique I use to find the pitches more accurately with a consistent airstream. • *Headphones Recommended!!!* • #wagner #horn #shortcall #excerpts

Happy 2026!!🥂🎉 Sharing 1 of my 2 times practicing excerpts of the year…really going to change this in 2026. Especially with excerpts, the greatest tool for me is recording myself and seeing what’s going on - here’s what’s going on in my Don Juan! (Need more clarity!) I’ve also been getting a lot of requests to share my practice habits like I used to, and while I don’t practice “for time” everyday, I thought it would be interesting to track again. No goal amount this time - just curious to see what happens! So here’s my day of practice: Hours Practiced: 4hrs 45min 11:15am-11:45am: Scales 11:45am-12:30pm: Paganini 9 1:45pm-2:30pm: Excerpts 2:30pm-3:00pm: Sibelius 3rd Mvt 5:30pm-6:00pm: Mozart 4 1st Mvt 9:30pm-10:45pm: Intro & Rondo 10:45pm-11:15pm: Sibelius 1st Mvt Total Hours Practcied: 4.75hrs Day 1 #violinpractice #donjuan #excerpts

We all know me and spiccato do not get along😅 I am trying different things like arm vs wrist vs finger but nothing seems to be getting me the results I want. I feel like if I play closer to the string and feel the stroke coming more from my elbow it will work. But my practice honestly feels like it’s been kinda hectic because I am lowkey cramming a few excerpts for this audition with little time within each day to actually practice while also not messing up my hand (it’s A LOT better btw🙏🏾) so I feel like part of the solution is just to calm down tbh😂 • • • 🎻Mozart: Symphony No. 40 in g minor, I. Molto Allegro (viola excerpt) • • • #viola #juilliardaalumni #cunygraduatecenterdma #blackexcellence #excerpts

Comment "Strauss" to get the 29-page interactive packet containing a few hundred exercises. They'll help you master this difficult excerpt but more than that - they'll make you a better violinist! You'll internatlize correct shifting and string crossings. You'll get comfortable with difficult double stops and learn to find high notes "out of the blue". Good luck! #donjuan #violin #excerpts
