Sherolo Cosplay

Dutch Comic Con 2022 is one that I probably won't forget. Besides the amazing people I met that weekend I also managed to win the cosplay contest. People recognised me on the confloor as Sherolo and it's still a weird experience when someone knows you and you don't even know them.

Thank you @nomes_cosplay , @har_fie , @bemoreshonen and @yuji.hannah for taking the time to discuss for decades who would take the first prize and thank you for being such kind judges. I'd put all my money on the amazing @lelie.creative ❤️ with her incredibly detailed costume and act. It was a blast competing against you.

Unnecessary life story incomming:

Let me tell you a little story about this cosplay (mostly a note to my future self. Writing this down gives me the opportunity to read it back later when I need to hit myself in the face again :) ). I started this cosplay 2 years ago when I started my current study (mechatronics). My insecurities got the worst of me back then because I felt my abilities weren't good enough (looking back at it, that was some big bs). But I pushed myself to do something out of my comfort zone and bought a 3d printer. A little while ago I promised myself that if I ever bought one I'd make this armor. So I did. I started with the hardest part, in case I started doubting myself again. The headpiece took me some time to make (blood sweat and tears actually) but I was extremely proud of myself for finishing it.
This whole cosplay was a way for myself to PROVE that I was good at something, that I was able to make such a big armor all from scratch. It gave me the confidence to open my mouth in school project environment. It taught me patience and perseverance. It doesn't mean that I'm completely confident in my abilities, but this cosplay did give me the boost I needed to break the 'selfdoubt goggle'.

I think that was it for now. So if you are still reading, or else only for my future self when she needs a kick to the butt, stop doubting your abilities. Stop it! Just do it ✅
