He chose me. I don’t really know how to make this post, but here we are since so many people are asking me. My poor Barry had disseminated Valley Fever. Valley fever normally involves a fever and cough, which he never had. He just had two lumps under his skin. It’s a very rare and actually very serious version of the disease. We had treatment going for about a month and he went for a recheck of his liver just last week. The medicine is very hard on the stomach and liver. The tests said he was ok to proceed. A few days later he had reflux and trouble eating. They had me add an acid reducer. I spent several days at the emergency vet trying to help but his body was shutting down and he was in liver failure due to the medication. I lost my poor, sweet, goofy, smart and perfect boy. There is such a hole in my life right now. If there is such thing as a soul dog, it was him. I expected a good 5-8 more years with him and not a sudden end. I’m crushed. My best buddy. My little shadow. I’m still looking for him and checking on him all day. 💔 I love my Barry. #standardbarry #thebestboy

God, I’m so grateful😭🤍 Still trying to wrap my head around this weekend. Running my first marathon alongside my brother was more special than I could ever put into words 💓 We ran in honor of our dad, who we lost to suicide, and in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Something that has impacted our family forever, and getting to do this together made it that much more meaningful 🥹 The people who showed up, the strangers who cheered, and everyone watching from home… I’ve never felt so loved! What a gift to have a body that can do hard things, people who love you through them, and a God who is faithful through it all 😭🗽🤍
Today is the day reality slaps trump in the face.
