He chose me.
I don’t really know how to make this post, but here we are since so many people are asking me.
My poor Barry had disseminated Valley Fever. Valley fever normally involves a fever and cough, which he never had. He just had two lumps under his skin.
It’s a very rare and actually very serious version of the disease. We had treatment going for about a month and he went for a recheck of his liver just last week. The medicine is very hard on the stomach and liver. The tests said he was ok to proceed. A few days later he had reflux and trouble eating. They had me add an acid reducer. I spent several days at the emergency vet trying to help but his body was shutting down and he was in liver failure due to the medication.
I lost my poor, sweet, goofy, smart and perfect boy. There is such a hole in my life right now. If there is such thing as a soul dog, it was him. I expected a good 5-8 more years with him and not a sudden end. I’m crushed. My best buddy. My little shadow. I’m still looking for him and checking on him all day. 💔 I love my Barry.
