A hearse is a specially designed vehicle used to transport coffins during funerals. Interestingly, the word “hearse” originally referred to a framework that held candles above a coffin, before becoming associated with funeral carriages. Before motor vehicles became common, hearses were pulled by horses, often decorated with elaborate carvings, curtains, and black feathers. Modern hearses are usually modified luxury cars with extended bodies and specially designed interiors. Some funeral homes even use vintage hearses, motorcycles, or horse-drawn carriages for unique ceremonies. Although black is the traditional color in many Western countries, hearses can also be white, silver, or other colors depending on cultural traditions. Like this content?
