Sometimes, saving a life requires diving right into the deep end.

After discovering this baby elephant trapped in a well, Roan and the team knew that time was tight. Her mother was standing guard, frantic but helpless, so the first order of business was to drive her a safe distance away. Then there was nothing left to do but jump in and haul the little (a relative term — she weighed in the region of 200 kg) calf out. Once she found her feet, she ran off and reunited with her mother at the tree line.

During the dry season, resources are scarce — and sometimes, the quest for water can have life-threatening consequences. There are countless wells like these, dotted across private land and not dug with wildlife in mind.

It’s a formidable challenge — but we have found that one of the most effective ways we can help is by being present, in the air and on the ground, so that emergencies can be acted upon. That’s how this little calf was discovered and rescued.

From the routine patrols to the life-saving operations, donors like you make our work possible. Thank you for your support! https://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/

🪄 THE MAGICIAN: the answer is yes, start

If you chose this card, the answer to your question leans toward yes. You’ve been waiting to feel ready, and you’ve researched, planned, and asked for opinions. The truth is you have most of what you need already. You’ve been telling yourself you need one more course, one more sign, or one more bit of confidence before you begin. That’s fear dressed up as preparation. Within the next few days, a small opening will appear, like a message, an idea, or a chance to take the first step. Take it, even if it’s imperfect. You’ll learn the rest while moving. This card says your question isn’t about whether you’re capable. It’s about whether you’ll begin.

🌙 THE HANGED MAN: the answer is not yet

If you chose this card, the answer is to wait, and you probably knew that. You’ve been pushing on something that isn’t moving, and each push has made you more tired. It’s hard to hear, because you’re used to solving things through effort. Right now, effort isn’t the missing piece. Something is still being decided, either by another person or by timing, and forcing it will cost more than waiting. Use this pause. Look at the situation from a different angle, because you’ll see something you couldn’t see while you were pushing. When it starts to move, you’ll understand why it needed this time.
